15 More People Die Of Swine Flu In India, Toll Reaches 1294Fifteen more people have died of influenza A (H1N1) in the country, taking the toll due to the swine flu pandemic in India thus far to 1294, an official statement stated.

Out of the six new fatalities, five took place in Maharashtra, which has recorded the highest number of swine flu deaths in India, while one person died in Gujarat.

While nine casualties, which occurred in recent days, have now been confirmed as cases of swine flu, the health officials added.

These comprised four demises each from Gujarat and Rajasthan and one fatality from Maharashtra.

Of the total H1N1 fatalities in India up till now, Maharashtra recorded 337 followed by Gujarat 263, Rajasthan 186, Karnataka 141, Delhi 95, Andhra Pradesh 52, Punjab 39, Kerala 37, Haryana 37, Madhya Pradesh 24, Uttar Pradesh
18, Uttarakhand 13, Chandigarh 8, Himachal Pradesh 8, Tamil Nadu 7, Chhattisgarh 7, Puducherry 6, Goa 5, J&K 4, Orissa 3, Assam 2 and Mizoram 1 and Dadra & Nagar Haveli 1.

As many as 36 fresh cases of the deadly flu were reported from different parts of India today, comprising 12 in Maharashtra, 10 in Rajasthan, 5 in UP, 4 in MP, 3 in Gujarat and 1 each in Karnataka and Chhattisgarh.

According to an official declaration, "Till date, samples from 125,794 people have been tested for Influenza A (H1N1) in government laboratories and a few private laboratories across the country and 29,231 of them have been found positive."
