Sabila Khatoon, a 22-year-old woman, lost her life after a physician allegedly took out her kidneys during surgical procedure, her family members said.
Sabila, mother of a 6-month-old child, passed away at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on Wednesday night.
A native of Tangaul Patti in Bihar's Hajipur region, Sabila was admitted at Patna Medical College early February after her condition worsened following a surgical procedure for stone in her excretory organ.
Medical doctors at the PMCH detected that both her kidneys had been removed and at once put her on dialysis.
"Sabila died as both her kidneys were removed by a surgeon, Parveen Kumar, at his clinic in Hajipur," the victim's father-in-law Mohammad Jameel said.
Jameel added that he was shocked when an ultrasound experiment discovered that both her excretory organs were missing.
"It was shocking because the first ultrasound test conducted before the operation had shown that both her kidneys were intact," he said.
Previously, after locals raised a hue and cry about the episode, the district administration told a civil surgeon to investigate the whole matter and present the report.
Sabila's family members lodged an FIR against Kumar for allegedly taking out both her kidneys.
Presently, Kumar is lodged in Beur jail. (With Input from Agencies)
