787 Dreamliners will be game changer for Air India: Ajit Singh

787 Dreamliners will be game changer for Air India: Ajit SinghBoeing 787 Dreamliner aircrafts will emerge as a game changer for state-owned carrier Air India, Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh said.

Speaking to reporters in London, Singh praised Dreamliners for their fuel efficiency, new technology and passenger friendly features.

Praising the Boeing Dreamliner, he said, "The B787s will be game changer for Air India.  The Dreamliners are very fuel efficient, have new technology and are passenger friendly.  They would improve our performance."

All carriers grounded their Dreamliner planes in January after some operators reported a technical glitch in their batteries that could have led to led crash in the sky.

The planes took to the skies again nearly a month back after Boeing fixed the glitch.  Air India re-launched Dreamliner flight between Delhi and London on May 22.  The national carrier is now planning to start full-scale commercial Dreamliner flights from Delhi to Dubai, Paris and Frankfurt by the end of June.

In the domestic sector, Dreamliners are already flying passengers between Delhi and Kolkata, Delhi and Bangalore and Delhi and Chennai.

Air India has ordered a total of 27 Dreamliner aircrafts.
