Aamir Shows Worry Over Attacks On Indians In Australia

Big B, AamirThe most socially aware actor in the Hindi film industry, Aamir Khan has criticized the recent wave of attacks on Indians living in Australia.

In his blog, the worried Khan wrote that he is most disturbed to hear about racist attacks on Indian people.

“While this doesn't mean that all Australians are racists, the frequency and seriousness of such attacks, I think, calls for an extraordinary reaction from the Australian authorities. And while we want action to be taken by authorities in Australia, equally we should remember all the various crimes against foreigners who visit India,” the blog reads.  

Aamir also mentioned that while harsh action needs to be taken in this regard the people of India should also not disregard the abuses that happened on foreigners from India.

He said that the offenders are soon brought before law and penalized accordingly.

“We also wish the victims of the attack make a quick recovery from the physical as well as the mental trauma that they have undergone,” he said.

Bollywood biggies have not dropped back in expressing their hatred on the attacks.

Moreover, Amitabh Bachchan has refused an honorary doctorate from Queensland University of Technology to protest the attacks.

"I mean no disrespect to the institution that honors me but under the present circumstances where citizens of my own country are subjected to such acts of inhuman horror, my conscience does not permit me to accept this decoration that perpetrates such indignity to my countrymen," Bachchan wrote in his blog recently.

In May 2009, a gang at a Melbourne party attacked four Indian pupils with a screwdriver. One of the sufferers stays in hospital with serious injuries.

Another Indian student was assaulted in what seemed to be a looting, and there were three other attacks during the same month (May), comprising two on Indian drivers.

Last week, the Indian administration summoned the Australian ambassador to express its worry and urge action.
