Adobe announces public preview release of ‘Edge’

Adobe announces public preview release of ‘Edge’Adobe Systems has announced the preview release of its new Edge software, which is expected to be ready for sale in 2012.

With the release the company has finally associated itself with Web standards, particularly, the HTML5. Adobe has been pitching for Flash Player, which is installed as a plug-in almost universally and allows users to play animated games, stream video and also eliminate differences between browsers.

Adobe partners, Opera, Mozilla, Apple, Google, and even Microsoft started getting connected to the Web stands such as HTML (Hypertext Markup Language for describing Web pages), CSS (Cascading Style Sheets for formatting and now animation effects), and JavaScript (the programming language used for Web apps).

The new stands are evolving and are found to work well on smartphones, where Flash was either simply not available or did not worked well. In case of Apple devices, Flash installation is outright not permitted.

Adobe is looking for ways to keep the Flash player relevant to the users. The new Edge player will allow the company to win over arguments that Flash is an outdated product. Edge will allow users to add animation effects to Web pages with the help of CSS controlled by JavaScript.

Adobe aims to add a host of new features to the software before the final version of Edge is launched next year.
