After Azharuddin, Rubina’s home torn down

After Azharuddin, Rubina’s home torn downLondon, May 21 : After Slumdog Millionaire child actor Azharuddin Ismail, Rubina Ali's house was demolished on Wednesday.

The Western Railway officials demolished some 40 illegal structures near the railway land at Garib Nagar in Bandra.

The officials said that the clearance was a routine exercise carried out to remove illegal structures from railway property.

Rubina, who played the role of young Latika in the Oscar winning film, lives with her family in a shantytown adjoining the railway tracks near Bandra station.

Last week, the authorities demolished the home of Azharuddin, who played the role young Salim in the film.

"This exercise is carried out regularly at different stations. We removed soft encroachments near Bandra station today," the BBC News quoted Western Railways spokesman C David as saying.

"This land should be used for railway work, which in turn should benefit," he added.

Rubina's father was also reportedly beaten up by the cops and has been taken to the hospital.

However, neighbours say it is not yet clear if he has been badly injured. (ANI)
