Amazon. com has a made a revolutionary announcement indication that e-books are beginning to take over from traditional copies.

The American online retain giant claimed that it is selling more electronic books than traditional copies. Amazon said that it has sold 105 Kindle e-books for every 100 printed copies since the beginning of April.

“We had high hopes that this would happen eventually, but we never imagined it would happen this quickly—we’ve been selling print books for 15 years and Kindle books for less than four years,” said Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.

He also claimed the Kindle is the largest selling e-book reader in the world even as Amazon does not announce its sale figures. The Kindle e-books are selling the rate of three times their rate during a comparable period in 2010. Amazon arrived at the number of 105 after excluding the free Kindle e-books.

Kindle faces competition from e-book applications for the iPad and Google Android. Such apps are making tablets and smartphones a more attractive choice for consumers for reading books and also for other features. Barnes & Noble’s Nook Color also competes with Kindle in the market.
