Argentina dumps India 4-2 in HWCIndia has finished at the eighth position in the Hockey World Cup (HWC) as the team went down to Argentina 2-4 in the seventh position play off tie at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi on Friday.

India was trailing by one goal at the half time but after that Argentina smashed three goals in the second half. India managed to score only two goals in the second half and ended their campaign at the eighth place in the 12-nation tournament.

Martin Lucas Vila and Facundo Calloni scored two goals each while Tomas Innocento Argento smashed one goal for Argentina. Shivendra Singh and Sandeep Singh smashed one goal each for India.

The crowd was once again disappointed by their home team performance and some section of crowd even started shouting slogans against the team players and Coach Jose Brasa.

Meanwhile, the final match of the HWC will be played today between Australia and the defending champions Germany while Netherlands and England will play each other in the third position play off tie.
