BA Crew loosing bid!

British-AirwaysBritish Airways, in a plea of cutting the numbers of manpower from its global and European fleets, has led the staff fuming in anger. However the cabin crew staff failed to make the High Court intervene in the fleet matter, leading the airline to stick to its cost-cutting proposal.

Upon the crew reaching the court, BA commented that it has the rights to reduce the manpower count from Cabin crew territory, when required. And the same shall not breach the individual staff's contract.

But the Unite union said imposing the changes would violate collective agreements with the unions relating to crew numbers, which it said were "expressly incorporated'' into individual contracts.

Giving his ruling in London today, Judge Sir Christopher Holland said they were not incorporated, meaning the claim failed.

However BA is pleased with the court's decision ruling out the minute editing required in the numbers of staff, on board handling the Heathrow flight and thus is not a breach of contract. The decision of the court has given a green wave for the British Airways to go ahead with the cost cutting implementations.

As the demand over the last months have been on a declining mode and required cost cutting, else it could turn out as an adverse financial situation for the company when it is already facing losses.

With executing the action of cost cutting, the airline is likely to slash the jobs of around 12,000 cabin crew members.

Further, the officials and councils of BA suggested the court that the action for cost cutting would only affect materially and detrimentally the health and well-being of staff and passengers on board the flights. However the decision will imbibe some work pressure on the crew staff, but the action was required in a financial downturn condition and slow moving economy where prices of fuel are mounting every day.
