Hamburg - Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday came from behind to beat VfL Bochum 2-1 and move to the top of the German Bundesliga standings.
Leverkusen, for whom Manuel Friedrich and Stefan Kiessling scored the goals either side of the break, are on 10 points after four games, three ahead of SV Hamburg who face Cologne on Sunday.
Schalke 04 missed an opportunity to join Leverkusen at the top when they slumped to a 1-0 defeat at home against SC Freiburg, with South Korean defender Du-Ri Cha scoring the only goal of the game five minutes from the break.
In other matches Hoffenheim secured their first three-pointer of the season when they won 1-0 at struggling Hanover 96, while VfB Stuttgart and Nuremberg played to a goalless draw and Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
Later Saturday defending champions VfL Wolfsburg could move to within a point of Leverkusen if they win at Bayern Munich.
On Friday Borussia Moenchengladbach beat Mainz 2-0, while the other match on Sunday sees Werder Bremen travel to the capital to take on Hertha Berlin.(dpa)
