Chennai, Oct 29 : The city-based engineering procurement and contracting (EPC) company BGR Energy has posted a net profit of Rs. 30.56 crore in the second quarter this fiscal, as against Rs. 23.68 crore it earned in the corresponding period last year.

Its sales during the quarter under review grew to Rs. 466 crore, compared to Rs. 424 crore it reported a year ago, the company said in a statement Thursday.

In the six months ended Sep 30, BGR posted a turnover of Rs. 777 crore and a net profit of Rs. 50.8 crore, as against Rs. 731 crore and Rs. 40.91 crore earned during the first half of the last financial year.

During the second quarter, the company booked orders worth Rs. 3,364 crore taking its total order book position to Rs. 12,197 crore -- the bulk of it being accounted for by the power sector (Rs. 11,616 crore).

The orders will be executed over the next three years, the BGR statement said.(IANS)
