Bhardwaj’s ‘Ishqiya’ Wins BO Race Over RGV’s ‘Rann’

Bhardwaj’s ‘Ishqiya’ Wins BO Race Over RGV’s ‘Rann’After Kaminey, Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Ishqiya' is doing well on 'BO' and is well accepted by the audiences.

The movie is said to be giving strong fight to RGV's 'Rann', which saw a disastrous opening.

Though Rann got mixed reviews from critics, its dreary presentation is owing to the certainty that it has little to offer viewers' in the form of entertainment.

The low budget film 'Ishqiya' has garnered approximately 80% of the collection whereas 'Rann' brought in only 30%.

According to the source, "The dialogue delivery in Ishqiya is very good and it is a typical masala movie but the drawback is that everyone might not like it because it has its own class. While 'Rann' is gripping but has managed only around 30 percent opening. There has been no initial for this one. It has its own class but no mass appeal."

Taking first things first, Abhishek Chaubey, debutant director, has done a great job. No director in his first movie would try hands at stereotyped projects, but congrats to CHaubey, he is a true exception.

Both the movies had a splendid opening but Chaubey's highly spiced film 'Ishqiya' with the icing of romance and a best story has beaten 'Rann' at the box office.

Another source said, "Rann has fared very poorly thanks to its subject. Ishqiya, on the other hand, has been average vis-a-vis 'Rann'. It is an ordinary affair with local appeal. Though the masses are watching it but the film is not for everyone because some are finding it a bit cheap."

Ishqiya' stars big actors including Naseeruddin Shah, Vidya Balan and Arshad Warsi, while 'Rann', which is about the fight between business and conscience in the e-media, features supersstar Amitabh Bachchan together with Riteish Deshmukh, Gul Panag and Paresh Rawal.

"The failure of 'Rann' has again given a dud out of Ram Gopal Varma's camp. While 'Ishqiya' has the rustic and poetic appeal very common to Vishal Bhardwaj. No matter whatever the fate, his movies somehow do manage to leave an effect on the audiences` minds," an industry source added.

Even though 'Ishqiya' is doing well with masses and multiplexes now it is likely to confront strong competition from KJo's much awaited 'My Name Is Khan'.
