The biography of multi-talented Bollywood actor Om Puri was released at the 40th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2009 yesterday.
The biography written by Om Puri’s loving wife Nandita Puri was released Amitabh Bachchan during a press meet near the Inox Courtyard.
In an open chat with the media persons, the veteran actor stated that the book named 'Unlikely Hero:Om Puri' has been written in an truthful manner.
Puri said, “No details were hidden to make the book a complete life story in my four decades of acting. The book showcases my strengths and also weaknesses. Who else but my wife could mention those?”
“Along with the minutest details of Om Puri’s personal life, the working of the film industry has also come into focus. The book talks of my love affairs, paying glowing tributes to my teachers while dwelling into my rag-picking days and the hectic load in the film industry,” he added.
Om Puri also said that it is not easy for a woman to write on her life partner and Nandita has done a brilliant job in bundling up his private as well as professional lives with objectivity and sincerity.
He added that she has not only highlighted his childhood but also entered his private life, matters, weaknesses and expertness via the book printed by Roli Books.
On this, Nandita, a journalist, stated that it took two years for her to work on the concept of the book.
"It was no mean task to cover 60 years of my husband's life," said Nandita with a shine in her eyes.
It may be remembered that Om Puri showed his anger at Nandita after she disclosed his sexual relationships with his housemaid and nanny to the media. He said that he would never pardon Nandita for this mistake. But, he had a U-turn on a second thought and justified to her.
