BJP committed to Ram temple, but will wait for Supreme Court decision: Rajnath Singh

Rajnath-SinghChennai, Feb 7 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh on Thursday reiterated that the party is committed to construct Ram temple at the Ram Janamboomi in Ayodhya, but will wait till the Supreme Court decision, as the matter is sub-judice before the court.

Responding to questions here at a press conference, Rajnath Singh expressed hope that the apex court will deliver a favourable verdict.

"The BJP has the firm opinion that the Ram Temple should be constructed on the Ram Janm Bhumi, but at present the matter is sub-judice before the Supreme Court and we should wait for its decision," said Rajnath Singh.

Asked about whether the ally partners will be convinced with the ideas of raising issues of Hindutva and building temple ahead of general election 2014, Rajnath Singh said: "I think there should be no any problem with the ally partners, because we had inducted the temple issue in our election manifesto in 2009 elections, despite having alliance with so many parties."

Earlier on Wednesday, Rajnath Singh, after taking a holy dip at Kumbh Mela in Allahabad, participated in a meeting of the VHP's central advisory committee in presence of its top leaders like Ashok Singhal and Pravin Togadia.

The VHP has demanded that a Bill should be introduced in the monsoon session of Parliament so that Ram Janambhoomi land could be handed over to the Shri Ram Janambhoomi Nyas Board for construction of the Ram temple. (ANI)
