BJP demands sacking of Andhra governor

BJP demands sacking of Andhra governor New Delhi, Dec 26 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Saturday demanded the sacking of Andhra Pradesh Governor N. D. Tiwari, allegedly involved in a sex scandal.

"Tiwari should have quit or the Congress should have asked for his resignation," BJP spokesperson Siddharth Nath Singh told IANS.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court Friday had restrained a Telugu news channel from telecasting visuals of an elderly person, purported to be Tiwari, in compromising position with three women in the Raj Bhavan.

However, the visuals were already on air when the restraining order was passed.

"It is very shocking because he is a veteran leader of the Congress and is holding a constitutional post. It brings disgrace to the position," Singh added.

The governor's office has denied the allegations.

Tiwari is a former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarkhand and a former union minister. (IANS)
