Gold finished lower as stronger-than-anticipated manufacturing data dulled some of the safe-haven shine that had earlier sent the metal to highs. Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund said it sold about 16.8 metric tons of gold in July, as its policy of gradually releasing gold onto the market continued. Gold opened up at 19107 reaching its high of 19158 quickly afterwards. Strong manufacturing numbers in both China and the U.S. resulted in large gains in equities. Profit taking in the metals ensued taking gold to its low of 18955. Quiet range trading for the remainder of the session saw gold close at 19000.Now support for the gold MCX is seen at 18917 and below could see a test of 18835.

Auto maker Toyota launched Prius hybrid car at the 2010 Auto Expo in Delhi. Toyota and partner Kirloskar Motor today showcased the eco-friendly car which is to come in the price band of Rs 26.55 lakh and Rs 27.86 lakh.
This is a third generation Prius powered by 1.8 lit petrol engine and a battery of 60KW. The hybrid car has three modes power, Eco mode and Electric vehicle mode.
ULFA rejects peace talks offer, threatens to wage war

Guwahati, Nov 25 : The outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) Wednesday rejected the central government's offer for peace talks if it dropped the demand for sovereignty, and instead threatened to wage a war for Assam's independence with renewed vigour.
Home Minister P. C. Chidambaram Tuesday told the Rajya Sabha that the government was ready to hold talks with the ULFA provided the outfit first laid down arms and gave up its demand for sovereignty.

London, May 5 : WAG Danielle Lloyd was punched in the face and suffered a cut lip in a fight with the former girlfriend of her beau Jamie O'hara.
The model and her Spurs star ran into Jamie's ex Sade Metcalfe, who accused her of stealing the midfield ace, and her pals in a bar.
The 25-year-old claimed she was hit in the face while she was leaving and is subsequently looking to press charges over the "violent assault".

Bangalore, May 7 : The Chief Ministerial candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) B. S Yediyurappa on Wednesday offered the sops and hopes of cabinet berth to minorities.
He was addressing a press conference in Bangalore.
"We are going to form the majority government in Karnataka. The electioneering is working towards it and we have covered more than 150 constituencies. People response has been very good and I am 100 per cent sure that we're going to repeat the same Gujarat result in Karnataka and we're going to form the government," asserted Yediyurappa.
Government to prepare blueprint for regulating sugar sector

On Tuesday, Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar said that soon the government will be preparing a blueprint for tightly and properly regulating the sugar sector.
This, he said, will be available within next 10 days and would be put before the cabinet in 3 months time for their consideration.

Islamabad, July 19: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani is expected to raise the issues of border (with Afghanistan) violations and the build-up of NATO forces along the Pak-Afghan border with the US officials during his forthcoming visit to Washington.
Gilani will be visiting US from July 28 on the special invitation of US President George W. Bush. Besides meeting President Bush, he would also meet other US high officials.
Coffee and carbs act as fuel after workouts

The researchers found that a combination of caffeine and carbohydrates athletes taken after exercise provides 66% more glycogen than caffeine alone.
The research was conducted in four sessions, wherein seven well-trained endurance cyclists were asked to ride a cycle ergometer until exhaustion, and then consume a low-carbohydrate dinner before going home. It was detected fours later that those who took the drink containing caffeine had 66 per cent higher glycogen levels in their muscles compared to those who had the carbohydrate-only drink.
Allahabad Hindu seers threaten to boycott Magh Mela festival

Allahabad, Dec 19 : Displeased over the sloppy preparations made by the State government for the Magh Mela, an annual bathing festival, the Hindu seers here have threatened to boycott the festival.
Magh Mela festival begins on December 31. The festival is observed during the month of Magh, on the confluence of rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati.
Hindu seers expressed their anguish over the state of preparations.

Bhopal, Nov 25 : The Madhya Pradesh High Court Wednesday permitted the state government to open the defunct Union Carbide factory here to the public, 25 years after the lethal gas release from it killed and maimed for life thousands of people on the intervening night of December 2-3, 1984.
The government had moved the state high court seeking permission for opening the factory while some NGOs opposed the move.

Ranchi, Nov 23 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh has described the leakage of the Liberhan Commission Report as an attempt to polarise voters during the forthcoming Jharkhand assembly polls.
Singh is campaigning for party candidates ahead of the upcoming elections.
Speaking to the media Singh said: "The Liberhan Report has been selectively leaked by the UPA Government to polarise votes in the Jharkhand Assembly elections."

S. bipartisan commission has warned that the next attacks on America might originate from Pakistan''s volatile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), adding that there is an urgent need for Washington to secure Pakistan''s biological and nuclear weapons.
The report, which was due to be presented to U. S. President Bush on Wednesday, says: "Indeed, many government officials and outside experts believe that the next terrorist attack against the US is likely to originate from within the Federally Administered Tribal Areas in Pakistan."
