Cash for Votes scam: Delhi Court to hear Amar Singh''s bail plea

Cash for Votes scam: Delhi Court to hear Amar Singh''s bail pleaNew Delhi, Sep. 15 : A lower Delhi court will on Thursday hear the bail application of former Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh in connection with his role in the 2008 Cash for Votes scam.

The hearing of the bail plea comes a day after lawyers representing Singh submitted their client''''s latest medical report to a special judge hearing his plea for bail on health grounds.

Singh is presently admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) with a kidney-related complaint and his latest medical report was given to the judge in a sealed cover.

The court, which was to take up the hearing of Singh's plea for bail in connection with the 2008 cash for votes scam last week, deferred it after being informed that Singh had to be admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) late on Monday night after his creatinine level rose dangerously.

Singh, who is suffering from kidney-related problems, is seeking interim bail from a Delhi court on medical grounds. The CBI is likely to ask for further custody.

Creatinine is a fairly reliable indicator of a person''''''''''''''''s kidney functioning.

Singh, 55, was admitted in the private ward of AIIMS at around 8 p. m. on Monday, Tihar Jail spokesman Gupta said.

A panel of doctors at Tihar jail examined Singh, found his creatinine level high and decided to refer him for admission in AIIMS, Tihar sources said.

Dr S Gupta, head of the Nephrology of AIIMS, is attending on Singh.

Singh was arrested on September 6 in connection with the cash-for-vote scam. (ANI)
