Caution for scanning equipments
A note of caution barged in with the alliance of powerful manufactures of medical instruments, taking up the responsibility to notify the health care providers to administer an admonition while performing scans which emits dangerous radiations.
Scans such as computed tomography scan (CT scan) or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) which discovers an inside image of the body and supports in detecting the root cause of the disease, have a high exposure level to the patients they are dreaded as they may cause skin burns, cataracts and other damages.
New safety measure shall be imbibed to the machines, made by General Electric, Toshiba Corp, Hitachi Ltd, Siemens and Philips. It will have two alert screens, yellow and red.
Yellow shall glow when the dose is higher than expected, while the red will warn when a patient is about to be given a dangerous dose of radiation.
The alliance executive director expressed that some of its companies will be able to create features before the end of this year, based on it the availability can be measured and made available. Further the company has also planned to standardize the radiation dosage techniques.
Hope that millions of lives in US and other parts of the world who undergo CT scans will now be safe with this preventative measure.
