Central team arrives in Kolkata to assess damage by cyclone AilaKolkata, June 6 : An eleven-member Central team led by Ashok Lavasa, arrived here on Saturday to assess the damage caused by recent cyclone Aila in West Bengal.

During their visit, the officials visited the areas hit by the cyclone in West Bengal''''s South and North 24 Parganas districts and the Darjeeling hills.

The Congress Party today said it would be sending two representatives to attend the all party meeting convened by West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee to discuss relief measures for Cyclone Aila.

The West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee on Saturday met Union Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee and asked for 1000 crore rupees for relief and restoration work in areas hit by the killer cyclone Aila.

This was decided at a meeting held at the Kolkata residence of Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee. (ANI)
