New Delhi, July 22 : The Central Government, on Wednesday said that it was aware of the frisking of former President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam by Continental Airlines and had issued a show cause notice to the airline on July 9.
The government’s statement came a day after the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) filed an FIR against the Continental Airlines.
Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said the BCAS had conducted an inquiry into the incident and issued a show cause notice to the airlines.
The BCAS has completed its preliminary inquiry and based on its report the action has been initiated, Patel said.
Kalam was allowed to board the plane after frisking at Indira Gandhi International Airport New Delhi on April 21. (ANI)
