Chennai Petroleum Corporation posts Rs 61 crore lossChennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd. has declared its fourth quarter financial results for the fiscal year 2009-10 and the reports have not been so impressive. The company has posted a loss of Rs 61.06 crore for the quarter that ended in 31st March, 2010.

The net profit of the firm was reported to be Rs 272 crore for the fourth quarter last year. Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd. is a group company of the State-run Indian Oil.

As far the total income of the firm is concerned, it has touched Rs 5,534.27 crore during the January-March period of fiscal year 2009-10. The income was recorded at Rs 4,816.01 crore for the same quarter last year. The latest results have been informed by the firm in a filing at the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The annual net income of the company was reported to be Rs 25,207.73 crore for the year under review from Rs 32,017.98 crore last year. The board has decided to recommend a dividend of 120% to its investors for the financial year 2009-10 subject to the approval of the shareholders.
