The much talked about Chevrolet Beat Diesel is all set to make its way on 25th of this month. Even the authorized dealers have been told to display the vehicle, offer test drives and take advance bookings.

To be priced between Rs 4.30 lakhs to Rs 5.30 lakhs depending on the trim level, the booking amount for the car is Rs. 25,000/- though waiting period could go for at least one month. Powered by a 1 litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, the Chevy Beat diesel is expected to provide mileage of 24 kilometers to the litre.

Karl Slym, MD and President of General Motors India said, "There is always a possibility of extending the diesel option to what customers demand. There is always an interest in putting diesel in other segments”.

Perhaps there is no match to its new electronic power steering unit, as its steering assistance is well weighted, making the drive a memorable experience. However, the inner dimensions and layout resembles with its petrol-burning sibling.

With petrol prices hitting the roof, Chevrolet’s next big thing in India is expected to provide the right mix of flavors to the Indian drivers. Though the Beat diesel runs exceptionally well in the 70-90 kmph zone, it has the capability to go to about 140 kmph.
