Chidambaram flags off women’s special train in ChennaiChennai, Aug. 12 : Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram flagged off three women special EMU train services at the Tambaram railway station near Chennai on Wednesday morning.

Speaking on the occasion, Chidambaram said that the government was giving special attention to the needs of youth and women. The introduction of ladies special trains, already launched in Mumbai and Kolkata earlier during the month, showed that it had a special place for women.

The ladies special services will be operated during peak hours in the morning and evening. The special trains were announced in the Railways Budget this year.

Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Jagathrakshakan said that the special train would be of great assistance to the women of Tamil Nadu. (ANI)
