Children of Parents Genetically more Diverse are taller and smarter than their Peers: Study

A journal Nature-published research paper has unveiled that people born from diverse genetic backgrounds have some of the best human qualities. The researchers have come to know that intelligence and height was more in those coming from different backgrounds.

The researchers studied 350,000 people and found that those who were from diverse genetic backgrounds were taller, smarter and also, had many other skills. The researchers have also assessed around 150 studies in which they looked at different factors.

After going through the studies, the researchers found that people from diverse genetic backgrounds were more literate, taller and better skills. Study’s lead researcher Dr. Peter Joshi said, “Our research answers questions first posed by Darwin as to the benefits of genetic diversity. Our next step will be to hone in on the specific parts of the genome that most benefit from diversity”.

One of the other things unveiled through the analysis of the different studies was if a human receives two defectives genes in any category then it will be having a smaller brain. The researchers said that knowing more about the genetics of humans has become quite important when it comes to what humans can achieve.

Jim Wilson, Reader in Population and Disease Genetics at the University of Edinburgh, was of the view that ‘overbreeding’ would have had advantages over the course of human evolution.
