Clarke''s mother now on the mend after recently suffering brain haemorrhage

Clarke''s mother now on the mend after recently suffering brain haemorrhageSydney, Sept 8: Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke's mother Debbie is recovering at home after recently suffering a brain haemorrhage.

The Australian captain''s mother spent two weeks in hospital in early August, but she is now on the mend and back in her southern Sydney home, The Daily Telegraph quoted sources close to Clarke, as saying.

Clarke has made no mention of the serious family concerns during his month in Sri Lanka, leading Australia to one-day victory as the Man of the Series, and batting beautifully to help set up victory in the first Test at Galle last Saturday.

Yesterday, Clarke was unprepared to discuss his mother''s health issues beyond saying that she was doing well.

"Thankfully everybody is doing well," Clarke said from Sri Lanka. "Family means everything to me."

Debbie''s recovery is said to have been hastened by the arrival of her first grandchild, two-month-old Byron, to her daughter Leanne, in July, the paper said, adding that her illness follows a horror year for the Clarke family healthwise.

Leanne was rushed to hospital for her son''s emergency delivery, after which the new mother and her baby were confined to hospital for "weeks", the paper quoted a family source, as saying.

Clarke''s father, Les, who has battled Hodgkin''s disease prostate cancer, required difficult surgery to remove a benign tumour from his face this year. (ANI)
