Couple shares experience on daughter getting diagnosed with type-1 diabetes

Early intervention is key to keep things sorted: this is the advice that a couple would like to give whose youngest daughter got diagnosed with type-1 diabetes. They have also suggested reading books and discussing with doctors, nutritionists and nurses to know more about the condition.

Maggie Puccini and her husband Rob tested their daughter’s blood sugar level after noticing symptoms like extreme irritability and unquenchable thirst. The home glucose tester showed reading of high. They took their daughter to hospital and it was diagnosed that Anna has diabetes.

The couple said through reading books and discussions with experts, they were able to better help their daughter. But now after two years, daily blood sugar testing and insulin shots are a reality. Using them, the family has been trying to keep their live as ‘normal’ as they can.

Day-to-day changes are needed, which Rob and Maggie keep on introducing in Anna’s life like attending a camp with her to give Anna her insulin shots. Maggie shared that Anna remains bothered with the limitations in the field.

But one of the positive things that have taken place is that the family has become involved with diabetes fundraising with the American Diabetes Association. Many people raise funds knowing that it is an important cause. Maggie said that she thinks that this fundraising with the ADA will help Anna to live life free from diabetes.
