Dilip Chenoy to become NSDC MD & CEO

Dilip Chenoy to become NSDC MD & CEOInitiated under the light of the budget speech given by the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in 2008-09 and formally inaugurated in October 2009, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) today announced the appointment of Dilip Chenoy as its CEO & MD.

A Public Private Partnership mandated to skill 150 million people by 2022 got its first set of disbursement as early as February 2010 amounting to Rs. 45.38 crores aiming to create over 10 lakh skilled manpower over the next 10 years.

Prior to taking charge as NSDC's CEO & MD, Chenoy was holding the post of Director General, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) since March 2004.

At SIAM, Chenoy was responsible for leading a team of professionals and working to set the technical and social responsibility agenda for the Indian automobile industry. In fact, prior to SIAM, Chenoy worked with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) since 1986, and his last held role being that of Deputy Director General.

On his appointment, Chenoy commented, "The corporation provides a vast opportunity to transform the skill landscape of the Indian economy." Chenoy will be in-charge from the 7th of May 2010.
