Efforts by Centre on to bring back black moneyOn Wednesday, the Centre has disclosed its various measures to retrieve black money from various countries. The Government has issued its statement before Supreme Court. This black money is blocked in foreign countries from many years.

In an affidavit which was filed by the Ministry of Finance, the government said that it was developing Direct Taxes Code Bill so as to make black money parked in tax sanctuaries taxable income.

Moreover, the negotiations have been done with 10 countries for signing the Tax Information Exchange Agreement. It is done with the countries where the money is believed to have been parked as stated in the affidavit.

The government has also disclosed the names of the countries. They are Monaco, Cayman Island, Bahamas, Bermuda, Isle of Man, British Virgin Island, British Island of Jersey, St Kitts and Nevis, Argentina and Marshall Island.

This was claimed earlier by the government that it had identified 26 citizens as revealed by the German government. It had indentified the place where money was being kept. Mostly the money was in Liechtenstein Bank but it was impeding to make the names in public.
