EMC Corporation to pump $1.5 billon in India

EMC CorporationEMC Corporation, a global leader in information infrastructure solutions, has decided to invest an incremental $1.5 billion in India over the next five years starting from 2010.

The proposed investment represents a three-fold increase compared to investments by the New York Stock Exchange-listed EMC in India over the previous five year.

A company official stated that the move is focused on expanding its R&D infrastructure at the India COE, increasing EMC Global Services capabilities and adding more technologists to drive deeper levels of engagement and support for local customers and partners.

Apart from latest development, the company has also inaugurated its LEED Gold green certified facility in Bangalore that joins together search and development (R&D) and EMC Global Services organizations from four separate locations across two cities into one campus to form a centralized Centre of Excellence (COE) in India.

It should be noted that newly launched facilities are one of EMC's largest R&D centers outside the US.
