Excessive health pressures affect cardio health of women

Excessive health pressures affect cardio health of womenEarlier many studies supported that stress at work increases the cardio health of men but a new study reveals that high pressure jobs also put young women at the risk of heart diseases.

During last 10 years many studies have investigated impact of work on ischaemic heart disease and found that in industrialized countries, cardiovascular disease (CVD), including ischaemic heart disease (IHD), is the prime cause of death and affects as many women as men.

A new study was examined on 12116 nurses from Denmark, aged between 45 and 64 yrs for 15 years, to investigate the effect of work pressure on the development of IHD in women. It includes a filling of self-administered questionnaire on health and lifestyle by all the members. They have to fill occupational status and working conditions.

All through 15 yrs of examination, 580 participants were found to be suffering from heart diseases. It was established that those nurses who said that their work pressures were too high were 25% more prone to heart disease in comparison with those who said that their work pressures are bearable and appropriate. When other habits and lifestyle are taken in to notice, it was found that 35% more nurses were likely to have heart disease.
