The would-be mothers pay more heed to mothers' advice during pregnancy as compared to medical advice from doctors, say researchers.
This is concerning to a study which was led by a team of experts who performed a survey at the University of London that spoke to women who gave birth in the 1970s, 1980s and the 2000s.
It was seen that the present day women tend to opt for a mixture of advices when compared to old ladies, who go with family wisdom, especially in their pregnancy period.
Jane Brewin, chief executive of baby charity Tommy's, stated women strive to "strike a balance" about the advice they take from their parents and health experts.
He further stated that women who get stressed may tend 'doing the wrong thing' which could lead to serious complications, thus it is wise to take seek medical advice without delay, as reported by BBC News via Professor Paula Nicolson from Royal Holloway, University of London.
