Food inflation falls to 9.01 per centIndia's food inflation has fallen to 9.01 per cent in the week to November 12, falling below 10 for the first time in more than three months.

The country's food inflation, which is measured by the Wholesale Price Index (WPI), was recorded at 10.63 per cent in the previous week. The food inflation was at 9.90 per cent on July 30. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has said that he hopes the inflation rates will be affected by slower growth in costs of food and fuel.

"If these trends continue for the next two weeks for the month of November, I hope there will be moderation in inflation and it will have an impact on the year-end inflationary figures," he said.

The prices of cereals fell to at 2.75 per cent, Rice was more expensive 2.75 per cent compared to the previous year while wheat prices fell to 3.09 per cent. Vegetable prices fell to 17.66 per cent and Potatoes were 7.23 per cent and onions 32.85 per cent cheaper.

The prices for fruits become 4.59 per cent more expensive, milk prices was at10.46 per cent and eggs, meat and fish grew to 11.98 per cent, according to the data released by the Commerce ministry on Thursday.
