T20 cricket spawning breathtaking new batting styles

Melbourne, Nov. 14 : An evening of Twenty20 cricket at the Gabba in Brisbane today, will see a new generation of cricketers going to work on innovative shots and styles with the potential to send the pyjama format of the game on a different evolutionary path.

An Australia XI will play an All Star XI in which players will be drawn from both Test and Sheffield Shield sides.

The ones to watch out for will be 23-year-old Peter Siddle, an emerging fast bowler, and 22-year-old Dave Warner, the New South Wales all-rounder, who has mastered the art of switching from left to right and vice-versa while pummeling the ball to all parts of the ground.

Dr Phil Jauncey said the allrounder would continue to face major challenges as Symonds was named in a 13-man Australian squad for next week’s first Test against New Zealand at the Gabba, the Daily Telegraph reported.

Van Nistelrooy out for season after knee surgery

Ruud van NistelrooyMadrid- Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his right knee in the United States, the club said Thursday.

The loss of the Dutch striker is a further blow to the club's embattled German coach Bernd Schuster.

Van Nistelrooy, 32, was treated by knee specialist Richard Steadman, who had already operated on the striker's right knee in 2000.

He will be out of action for between six to nine months, depending on how the knee recovers, the club said.

Tsonga storms back to overhaul Djokovic

India, England cricket teams confident of doing well in one-day series

England Cricket Board Logo Rajkot (Gujarat), Nov 13: India and England cricket teams expressed confidence on Thursday, of performing well, a day before the first match of the seven-match one-day series between them.

India will look to adapt quickly after completing a 2-0 test series victory over Australia four days ago.

Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni said in Rajkot, where the fist match would be played that players should learn to switch over from the test series mode to one-day series mode.
