The defending champions Germany will today play against England in the semifinal of the Hockey World Cup (HWC) at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi.

Germany had played last match against England 24 years ago and England had won that match 3-2 to register their first ever victory over Germany.

Germany had won HWC twice in 2002 and 2006 and they will be going all out to complete hat-trick of the World Cup titles. Germany had also won gold medal in the Beijing Olympics.

On the other hand, England has played superbly even without their key players as Striker Matt Daly was ruled out due to injury while Simon Mantell and Richard Mantell received injuries during the ongoing World Cup.

England had started their campaign in World Cup with a bang by defeating Australia 3-2 in the very first match and they will have to repeat their magic against the world champions Germany to make their way into the grand finale.
