Government planning to make nurses more amicable to students

Government planning to make nurses more amicable to studentsAuthorities in England are working on a plan to make nurses more accessible to the students in the school.

School children should be able to get an appointment by texting a nurse, according to the government. The plan is part of an effort to improve health in schools and it also calls for nurses to response to student's emotional and learning needs in a better way.

Ministers in England spoke to more than 300 young students before they prepared the plan. The Royal College of Nursing have pointed out that the number of nurses must be increased in schools in order to improve the health services in schools.

Health Secretary Andrew Lansley has announced the plan under which school nurses will be made responsible for looking after the health of children and young people.

Mr Lansley said, "We want young people to be able to speak to their school nurses more often so they get sound health advice."

Students find it difficult to meet nurses because they are not sure how to contact them or take appointments and they are shy to approach the teacher to make an appointment. The plan says that text messaging, emails and mobile phone apps could be used to overcome these issues and allow students to approach nurses easily.
