The disease Dementia leads to the decline of thinking and reasoning abilities which further leads to short term memory i. e. memory loss, with passing time, it gets difficult to recognize the people one is familiar with and many other changes.

As per the research made by various authors, it was concluded that the risk of dementia is approximately 40% to 100% higher in diabetic patients as compared to ones who are non diabetic.

Dementia further leads to Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia and many other types which majorly occur in diabetic patients. Depression however, doubles the risk of Alzheimer's disease and various other types of dementia.
