Taiwan to punish commercial email-spam senders

Taipei - Taiwan's cabinet has approved a draft bill to allow email recipients to make claims of up to 2,000 Taiwan dollars (57 US dollars) per mail in compensation from the senders of spam email, the Government Information Office said Friday.
The bill, which still needs parliament approval, requires the senders to stop sending commercial email to recipients if their first mail does not get a response, the agency said in a statement.

Led by Matthew Mechenes, graduate student in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, the studies indicated that a naturalized landscape with native grasses benefits biodiversity, saves costs on pesticides and labour for the golf course, and at the same time could create a challenging course for golfers.

Buenos Aires - The Argentine government said Monday it would not continue negotiating with agricultural producers in the face of recent criticism from their leaders of President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner's policies.
Argentina's four agricultural federations organized a rally Sunday in Rosario, some 300 kilometres north of Buenos Aires, marking the Day of the May Revolution, which in 1810 began the country's independence from Spain.

Jaisankar Marimuthu, along with Thirugnanam Ramanathan and Chockalingam Ramanathan, is accused of operating an international "hack, pump and dump" scheme, in which they hacked into online brokerages, and used stolen identities to create new accounts for buying and selling stocks in order to manipulate prices to their benefit.

London, June 24 : Actress and activist Mia Farrow has condemned the British and American Governments for not having taken enough measures to stop the genocide in Darfur.
While speaking at the Rotary International Convention at Birmingham''''s National Exhibition Centre, the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador said that it was "unacceptable" not to do more when "this level of humanitarian disaster" was ongoing.
"What message have we sent to the people of Darfur? Only that they are completely dispensable,” the Daily Express quoted Farrow as saying.

Washington, Sept. 25 : Senior White House officials played a central role in deliberations in the spring of 2002 about whether the Central Intelligence Agency could legally use harsh interrogation techniques while questioning an operative of Al Qaeda, Abu Zubaydah, according to newly released documents.
In meetings during that period, the New York Times says that the officials debated specific interrogation methods that the C. I. A. had proposed to use on Qaeda operatives held at secret C. I. A. prisons overseas, the documents show.

Jordan Islamists accuse US of being behind clashes in Lebanon

Amman - Jordan's largest political party, the Islamic Action Front (IAF), accused the United States Saturday of being responsible for the flare-up of armed clashes in Lebanon and urged all Lebanese powers to resort to dialogue.
The IAF, political arm of the influential Muslim Brotherhood movement, said the escalating tension was part of a "US agenda that seeks to stir internal sedition and obstruct all prospects of national reconciliation in Lebanon".
It accused some Lebanese powers of "playing into the hands of the US administration which aims at implementing a hostile scheme in the region".

He said he undertook the work because he had not seen anybody doing it before.
"It has been almost a year. The response has been great. Calligraphy means beautiful writing. The art originated in England. I have not seen anybody drafting Gurbani in calligraphy that is why I decided to undertake it," said Hardeep Singh.
His father, Surindra Singh, himself a collector of art antique''s, helping him with his new venture.

Islamabad, Apr. 6 : The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, has set a 15-day deadline for government officials to submit a detailed report on the public flogging of a 17-year-old girl in the Swat Valley.
Chief Justice Chaudhry issued the directive as eight judges opened a hearing into the Taliban whipping case.
“Government and regional officials from North West Frontier Province (NWFP) should ‘submit report on a fortnightly basis to the registrar of this court,” Chaudhry said in his order, which was written in English.

London, July 11 : British Chief of Defence Staff Sir Jock Stirrup has insisted that the Taliban is losing the fight in Afghanistan.
The top British general was defending the bloodiest 24-hour period for ground troops since operations began.
He sent his condolences to the bereaved families, but said it was important to “remember why our people are fighting in Afghanistan and what they are achieving through their sacrifice.”
