H-1B hike to hit ties: India

The United States’ consensual association with India could be undesirably affected by the increase in the visa fees. The Parliament has been notified of the same by S M Krishna, the Minister of External Affairs of India as he penned a letter to the Rajya Sabha stating that the Indian Information Technology sector would be severely affected by the US government’s legislation and that the Indian government has conveyed its unease over the matter.

It was also mentioned that tough the legislation is not a few particular countries alone yet, it would grossly damage the software firms in India for a major chunk of the H1B and L visas are sought by the Indians.

He also conveyed that the Indian embassy at Washington is discussing this subject with the Obama administration and other foremost law-framers though the regulation is still being processed but President Obama has been reported to have given his signature on the Emergency Supplement Appropriations Bill which provides that the hike in the visa fees would be a means to gather reserves for strengthening the US-Mexico border security force.
