H1N1 Flu Surfaces Again In Himachal PradeshAfter a gap of more than 30 days, a new H1N1 flu case has been reported in Himachal Pradesh.

With the addition of fresh swine flu case, the number of Influenza A (H1N1) cases in Himachal has gone up to 45.

Mr. Vinod Mehta, Swine Flu Nodal Officer said, "A 54-year-old man was admitted to Shimla's Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital yesterday (Tuesday). His samples tested positive for swine flu."

Mr. Mehta stated that the patient was from Rohru in Shimla.

Thus far, 16 people have lost their lives and 45 tested positive for lethal virus in the state.

India's death toll owing to the H1N1 flu pandemic up till now reached 1376, an official statement stated.

Out of the total swine flu demises so far, Gujarat now accounts for 289, while 369 lives have been lost in Maharashtra followed by 194 in Rajasthan, 148 in Karnataka, 95 in Delhi, 52 in Andhra Pradesh, 40 in Punjab, 38 in Haryana, 37 in Kerala, 26 in Madhya Pradesh, 19 in Uttar Pradesh, 13 in Uttarakhand, 11 in Chhattisgarh, 8 each in Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh, 7 in Tamil Nadu, 6 in Puducherry, 5 in Goa, 4 in Jammu & Kashmir, 3 in Orissa, 2 in Assam and 1 each in Mizoram and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

According to the reports, 35 new cases of H1N1 flu were reported yesterday, comprising 25 in Maharashtra, 4 in Gujarat, 3 in Rajasthan 2 in Karnataka and 1 in Delhi. (With Input from Agencies)
