Haryana All Set To Set Up New-Born Corners, Care CentresHaryana will establish New Born Corners (NBC) and Sick New Born Care Units (SNCUs) in all the administrative hospitals of the state in order to confirm the infant death rate.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda made this announcement today while addressing a meeting.

Mr. Hooda stated that NBC units would be established at 144 sub-centres, 11 rural community health (RCH) centres and 156 primary health centres under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).

Reserved completely for the care of the infant, these will be situated in the labor room, and shall have all the provisions for countering pre-maturity, hypothermia, birth asphyxia and infection.

SNCUs would be established in all the district level government hospitals by March next year.

Every division, with the capacity to admit and take care of six to 10 sick new borns, will provide them with specialized intensive care at district hospitals and all referrals from health centres.

Mr. Hooda stated that a special movement would be launched in Haryana in order to treat the anaemic kids.

The infant mortality rate in the state is 43 per 1,000. An official said the state government wants to bring it down to less than 30 per 1,000. (With Inputs from Agencies)
