Rise in cholesterol level can trigger many diseases. High cholesterol level increases the risk of heart diseases.
The recent research has shown that mothers can protect their children from risk of heart disease in later life.
A new study has shown that breastfeeding can prevent a child from
developing heart disease in later life. Researchers have found that
babies who are breast feed for at least six months have less
cholesterol level when they grow up.
Researchers claim that the basic reason behind this fact is that the
early exposure to high cholesterol content of human milk equips the
body of the babies to deal with high cholesterol in later life.
The research team led by Dr Owen from University of London analyzed the
data collected from 17,000 adults in Britain. Researchers found out
that the people who were breastfeed have less cholesterol as compared
to people fed with formula milk. Researchers asserted that the
breastfeeding is beneficial for women also, as it reduces the risk of
breast cancer.
Dr. Owen said, "The results also suggest that formula feeds should
match the context of breast milk as closely as possible -- any attempt
to reduce the fat content of formula feeds could be
counter-productive."
