Intra-nasal H1N1 vaccine in IndiaRecent news in the development of H1N1 vaccine claims the rise of intra-nasal H1N1 flu vaccine, Nasovac, in India.

This SII or the Serum Institute of India got a green signal from DCGI (Drug Controller General of India) to launch its first ever intra-nasal H1N1 flu vaccine in India. The vaccines shall be issued for serving both the domestic as well as the foreign market within a week’s time as corroborated by Rajeev Dhere, senior director of SII and will be available at a price tag of Rs 150.

Nasovac can be given to anyone who is aged above three. Dhere further says that it is the nasal chamber through which the vaccine is delivered via a device fitted on top of a syringe. A quick spray of the same develops antibodies thus preventing H1N1.

The reports of death witnessed a total of 1,540 deaths, and a record 474 deaths alone came from Maharashtra, with Pune alone covering 243 deaths till June 14. Further throwing light on this matter it was stated that swine flu has spread in 30 states and all the Union territories.
