Junior Doctors Continue Their Strike

Junior doctors have decided to continue their strike for an indefinite Junior Doctors Continue Their Strike period.

Junior doctors from eight government medical college and hospitals across the state are on strike since Monday. The doctors are camping for the increase in stipend. Ten representatives of these junior doctors met Health Minister Surya Kanta Mishra.

The Director of Medical Education (DME) has formed a three-member committee to deal with this matter. Health minister said that he would implement the recommendations once he receives them from the committee.

According to sources, doctors from B C Roy Hospital and the Bankura Medical College are planning to join the strike.

The representatives of junior doctors said that the strike will not be called off until they receive a written commitment from the authorities to increase their stipend. They also said that the authorities should commit everything in black and white.

According to the officials, medical facilities will suffer due to ongoing strike.

According to sources, an NGO is planning to file a Public Interest Litigation against the strike of junior doctors. The junior doctors claim that they have no intention to make people suffer.

However, the junior doctors are reported to have initiated parallel outdoor patient treatment facilities for all departments at the SSKM and the Calcutta Medical College.

The government officials are very angry with the behavior of junior behavior. The refusal to call off their strike despite the announcement of stipend revision can put junior doctors in trouble. According to sources medical authorities are planning to take strict action against junior doctors on strike.
