Myanmar builds first liver transplant hospital

Yangon, July 10 : Myanmar is building its first-ever liver transplant hospital, a media report said Sunday.
With technological help from the Changi General Hospital of Singapore, construction for the $40 million private hospital began last month, Xinhua reported citing weekly newspaper Voice.
The hospital will also offer services to patients with heart and kidney diseases.
A liver transplant at the hospital will cost about 20 million Kyats (around $25,000), much lesser than in other countries, the report said.
Myanmar experts carried out successful liver transplant operations for the first time in 2004.(IANS)
