Now, skin cream to ''reverse effect of menopause''

Now, skin cream to ''reverse effect of menopause''London, Sept 10 : Women have to face a lot of changes as they age, and the changes brought on by menopause are their main worries.

But now, with the introduction an inexpensive skincare regime, which includes a range of anti-ageing creams, believed to be the first mass-market menopause cosmetics, they can kiss their wrinkles goodbye.

Designed for women who have been through "the change", the No7 Restore and Renew products at Boots tackle age spots and wrinkles.

The day cream, night cream, eye cream and foundation contain unstressage, which is said to target the problems of ageing skin cells.

Derived from the Japanese persimmon fruit, the extract has apparently been formulated at a youthful skin pH to make cells act more efficiently.

The ingredient, which has never been used in a skin product, is high in anti-oxidants, which shield the skin against external factors such as sunlight.

The No7 range also contains emollients to moisturise the skin and leave it "suppler, making it less susceptible to wrinkles".

In another layer of defence against sun damage, the creams are said to have SPF and UVA protection.

"After menopause there is a dip in oestrogen which makes skin less successful in maintaining moisture," the Daily Mail quoted No7 skincare expert Dr Mike Bell as saying.

"Cells slow down and become less efficient and less good at repair and recovery, while new cells are slower to replace old cells. This makes skin weaker and dry and look sallow and lined.

"If you bathe old skin cells in the persimmon extract, it makes them act younger as it restores their levels of gene expression to what they are in younger cells.

"It rejuvenates the cells so the skin has greater elasticity and smoothness," he stated.

The developers say mature skin will be revitalised and softer after just four weeks.

While the day cream, night cream and eye cream have been in stores since April, the No7 Restore and Renew Foundation is available from next month.

The products, which cost between 15.50 pounds and 21.50 pounds, follow the success of No7 Protect and Perfect Beauty Serum. (ANI)
