According to the official reports, the U. S. government contracted American Science and Engineering Inc. to deliver its van-based mobile X-ray screening technologies.
It will provide U. S. government agencies with its trademarked Z Backscatter Van X-ray systems capable of detecting explosives and drugs among other illicit materials, Massachusetts company AS&E has said.
Anthony Fabiano, AS&E president and chief executive officer, said, "We continue to receive outstanding field performance reports from Z Backscatter Van customers."
The $13.9 million contract follows a $6 million renewal of a maintenance deal with the U. S. government for service of the company's portable Z Backscatter Vans and military trailers.
Its Z Backscatter Van technology is deployed around the world to support border security and other homeland security programs with next-generation mobile screening capabilities, AS&E has said. (With Inputs from Agencies)
