Health memorandum between Bill Gates and Bihar GovernmentBill Gates, Microsoft Chief, visited Patna on Wednesday and signed a health memorandum with Bihar government to wipe out polio, kalaazar and tuberculosis from the state.

Bill Gates on behalf of his foundation signed health projects in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Nitish Kumar aimed at the successful application of the projects in selected districts in cooperation with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Gates quoted that their main goal is to improve the health conditions in the state and moreover they will also work for reducing maternal mortality rate (MMR) and infant mortality rate in Bihar.

Gate also added that last year in July, he had spoken to Nitish Kumar regarding health projects and they are satisfied by watching the progress made by Bihar in the field of health.

Gates visited Patna and some other districts like Gularia village in Khagaria and Tertariya village in Banka districts with some officials of Bill and Melinda Foundation. For the duration he stayed in these districts, he corresponded with the villagers and decided to work in both the villages.

Gates has signed the memorandum for five years, told the State Health Secretary C.K. Mishra.
