Proposed medical colleges at Civil Hospital Sola and Government Hospital, Gotri respectively are waiting for an approval from MCI (The Medical Council of India). Sources report that MCI investigating team visited these two colleges on Tuesday in Ahmedabad and Vadodara and finished their inspection by 4 pm in the afternoon.
Sources revealed that MCI officials were found satisfied and college authorities are hopeful for the approval of their colleges.
An official from Medical College Sola said that they had arranged all the best possible facilities to meet the prescribed requirements and are crossing our fingers to receive a positive response. We have a capacity of 150 students in one academic year and had developed an infrastructure for the same, whereas the government medical college at Gotri Vadodara has a capacity of 180 students.
A source brings to light that Sola medical college is ready for taking 150 MBBS students and had already started to purchase equipments and instruments to meet the requirement. They also believe that they will get a positive response from MCI and hopefully begin their session in the coming academic year.
Sola Medical College had started construction work by April 1 and had also initialized teacher's recruitment process. They had also managed to get their trauma centre and ICCU in the last 10 days. Sola Medical college claims that we had met all the requirements necessary for setting a college, including recruiting 59 doctors and tutors and hopefully within fortnight we will get our 10-bed Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU).
