US researchers claimed that preggies who have one cup of coffee daily could not harm themselves at all.
Boffins said that 200 mg of caffeine will not raise the chances of miscarriage or early birth.
Previously, expecting moms have been cautioned not to consume coffee at all as it was believed to substantially raise the chance of harm to the foetus and of reduced birth weight.
The US research carried out by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, viewed two earlier researches on the effects of coffee consumption on 1,000 pregnant women.
One research discovered no increased rate of miscarriage for females who had low, moderate, or high levels of caffeine at different points in their pregnancy.
The other discovered a higher risk of miscarriage in females who had over 200mg of caffeine on a daily basis, but no extra risk at lower levels.
But, researchers still warn that expectant mothers should not have more than two cups per day as this raises the chance of miscarriage or premature birth.
Dr. William Barth, chairman of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists committee on Obstetric Practice, said, "I think it's time to comfortably say that it's OK to have a cup of coffee during pregnancy." (With Inputs from Agencies)
