Hewlett-Packard launches its new shared storage solutions
Specializing in manufacturing storage devices, the Hewlett-Packard on Tuesday launched its new shared storage solutions – HP LeftHand P400 SAN and HP StorageWorks SB40c. The H-P has launched HP LeftHand P400 SAN for the Asia Pacific market.
The HP LeftHand P4000 SAN solution facilitates data replication and automatically balancing data volumes across all storage resources in an enterprise. It is cost effective storage solution that can be deployed within virtual server environments while using existing physical and virtual technology infrastructure. It is capable of providing higher capacity, online configuration changes and scalable performance. It will be priced in the range of Rs. 2.50 lakh per terabyte in Asia.
Speaking at the launch of the new H-P storage solutions, the vice president, LeftHand Networks Division, HP Asia Pacific and Japan, Bill Chambers stated that time has come to star thinking beyond the server, on the lines of network and storage. The customers today need agile, integrated storage solutions to realize the full potential of virtualization. According to Chambers, the company is aiming to scale performance along with capacity, with new shared storage solutions.
The HP StorageWorks SB40c is highly applied shared solution within a virtualized blade server infrastructure in the industry. The HP StorageWorks SB40c and the P4000 Virtual SAN appliance package delivers a scalable storage area network (SAN), which can be deployed within the HP BladeSystem infrastructure and expanded across multiple blade enclosures to meet high storage. The HP StorageWorks SB40c and the P4000 Virtual SAN appliance software package allows to build an iSCSI SAN within a blade infrastructure to meet shared storage needs.
According to Amit Malhotra, manager for volume storage, StorageWorks Division, technology solutions group, HP Asia Pacific and Japan, the iSCSI SAN market is expected to grow at a 25 percent compounded annual growth through 2013, with India and China representing more than half of the this market, and server virtualization is a key driver of this growth.
